Gaspare Alfì is a PhD student in Clinical Physiopathology, Bio-Psychological and Statistical area. His research is based on the field of Psychoneuroendocrinoimmunology (PNEI); in particular, he studies cognitive and affective outcomes related to the effects of the endocrine and immune systems alteration, mainly focusing on the role of inflammatory activity. This investigation involves several clinical conditions, such as: parathyroid alteration, Periodontitis, Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) and is carried out through a neuropsychological and electrophysiological approach. Studying the systemic effects of inflammatory overflow, the main goal is to disentangle the mind-body problem by moving towards an integrative model.
