The curriculum is designed to train highly qualified personnel by providing the theoretical foundations and the essential methodological skills needed to carry out research activities in the cardiorespiratory field.
The expertise available within the Academic Board will make it possible to develop basic, translational and clinical research projects in various areas of cardiology, pulmonology, cardiac surgery and thoracic surgery.
The scientific training of the PhD candidates therefore addresses, in a multidisciplinary way, the biochemistry, biology, pathophysiology and clinical aspects of diseases of the respiratory and cardiovascular systems.
The programme of lectures and seminars is delivered by members of the Academic Board, by experts from national and international institutions, and by professionals from the technology industry.
The scientific training pathway is based on experimental work carried out in the laboratories and facilities of the proposing Department under the supervision of a Tutor. Collaborations with high-level research centres, both national and international, are strongly encouraged, with the aim of training researchers capable of playing a significant role in the national and international scientific community.
